18th quotation: Umar ibn al-Khattab said, encouraging Abu Jandal to kill his own father, Suhayl ibn Amr, “Be patient, Abu Jandal, for they are merely mushrikeen and their blood is nothing but like the blood of a dog.” Musnad Ahmad (hadith no. 18910) The word ‘mushrikeen’ means ‘associators’ of idols or other beings with God in divinity.
